Call of Cthulhu Easy Review |
Call of Cthulhu is a RPG (role playing) – survival/horror game in a dark, enigmatic ambient and this ambient is the biggest strength of this game. We play as a private investigator trying to solve a mysterious case. This game is rather interesting than good or it’s good and not good in one. It’s good because its dark ambient feeling is a unique one. The scenes are ghostly and the environments are well designed. The interactions and conversations are sometimes interesting but rather on mediocre level. The gameplay is actually quite good, the puzzles fun to solve. It’s also very good that you can make decisions based on simple feelings and/or real data and some of these decisions affect your fate. Playability is sometimes weird ie. crouching is quite lame, and the AI in the game is quite dummy. The character design is also only on medium level (at most) but the environment details are quite cool. The game is relatively short and my feeling is that the 44.99€ price tag is a bit steep for this game. It’s not that well done.
But if you like horror games in mysterious, sometimes romantic and sinister environment it’s definitely worth a try. I actually pre-ordered it and got 10% off as part of the pre-order deal, which was fine when it was brand new but I would say that this game is worth it with at least 25% off.
